Pursuing Your Goals Through Comprehensive Financial Advising

Financial advising encompasses more than just investing your money—it's about organizing your entire financial life to help you feel secure and confident in achieving important life goals. A comprehensive financial plan serves as a holistic roadmap that guides every aspect of your finances from cash flow to retirement.

At its core, comprehensive financial advising involves setting clear financial objectives and then developing a customized strategy to pursue them.  A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ begins by understanding your values, priorities, risk tolerance, and timeframe for goals. This could include saving for a child's schooling, planning for retirement decades away, growing a business, or preparing for life changes like marriage, divorce, or caring for aging parents.

Developing a Customized Financial Strategy

Once goals are established, a comprehensive plan examines your full financial picture. This includes analyzing spending and cash flow, debts, insurance coverage, tax strategies, estate planning needs, and investment accounts. Recommendations are made on how to allocate resources to meet savings targets while aiming to protect your assets from risks. Ongoing reviews ensure the plan stays up-to-date as life events and market conditions change your situation over time.

Our Approach to Retirement Planning

The Bucket Strategy®

To create your personalized plan for retirement, we use The Bucket Strategy®. The Bucket Strategy® matches your assets to your liabilities, using strategic investments to draw cash flow when needed, allowing time for other investments in the portfolio to potentially grow.

Investments are bucketed into three categories that correspond to various stages of your retirement based on your evolving income needs.

Guarantees are based on the claims paying ability of the issuing insurance company. Investing involves risks including the potential loss of principal. No strategy can assure success or protects against loss. Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

The Bucket Strategy® involves investments subject to risks, fees, and expenses. There is no guarantee that any investing strategy will be profitable or provide protection from loss.

The Now Bucket

The first bucket of the Bucket System involves the cash you need now and within the next seven years. Short-term assets and liabilities are analyzed, and a portion of this bucket is invested in an account meant to set you up for life. The remainder is invested to be spent over seven years.

The Later Bucket

Money in the later bucket matches your mid-term assets to your mid-term liabilities to make investments that will peak 8-15 years. The assets placed in the later bucket consider inflation and cost of living increases, so you will have the funds to live comfortably.

The Long-Term Bucket

Money that you will need beyond 15 years into retirement is placed in the long-term bucket. These investments are meant to provide long-term growth. It can include your continued cost of living, charitable donations, and inheritance.
